Sunday, May 18, 2014 – 19th Annual Nautical Coast Cleanup

This 100% volunteer event has gathered over 610 tons of debris from the Lake St. Clair shoreline. Once again, we are encouraging everyone to join our efforts to clean the beaches and shoreline of Lake St. Clair. Volunteers are what made this event the success it has been in the past and it is the volunteers who will make this event a success this year. This has grown into a tremendous “done in a day event” – the largest in the midwest. This year’s clean-up sites include Veteran’s Memorial Park beach, Blossom Heath Park beach, the Champine Park shoreline and the Chapaton Retention Basin shoreline in St. Clair Shores. Some canal and shoreline homeowner groups will participate in this year’s event by cleaning their beaches, canals and waterfront shorelines on the same day.

The St. Clair Shores Waterfront Environmental Committee has been active in planning and participating in this event since it’s first year back in the spring of 1996! We urge waterfront homeowner associations, school environmental groups, local businesses and community organizations to “Care Enough to Commit”!

This year’s Nautical Coast Cleanup is presented by the St. Clair Shores Waterfront Environmental Committee. The event is being sponsored by the “We Are Here Foundation, Inc.”, and once again the Jefferson Yacht Club (JYC) is going to be our base of operations.
